Ivy Jane and Uncle Frank
In 1986 I took deep breath, took a leap of faith and took a chance – I started my fashion design firm. The dream had been in my head seemingly forever and I guess I felt 1986 was right time to do it. I certainly felt the inspiration to do it then.
So what continues to inspire me today to design Ivy Jane Clothes? Just about anything and everything. Something I saw in a movie or heard in a song. Something romantic from long ago in a vintage shop or something colorfully quirky I just saw on the street. The fun is to mix-up all that inspires me to give the clothes their own identity.
What also occurred to me is that I get inspiration from some of the wonderful people in my life.
There’s Ivy Jane. She’s bright and colorful, quirky and fun. She seems to be everyone’s friend and if she’s usually a bit late, who cares? I know she saw something interesting on the way and she can’t wait to tell me about it.
There’s Uncle Frank. He’s easy going and generous. He always seems to find the good in everyone and something funny to say about everything.
It’s to the inspiration of these two people (and a couple of others; more later on that) I dedicate my company.
